Any VPN that works on Cardongle?

Is there any VPN that works on Cardongle? I have tried ipvanish and it doesn't work. Keeps asking for permission but when I click on it, it says no vpn.

VPNs require screen lock and, as far as I can tell, the developers intentionally broke screen lock.

Perhaps @Tommy can provide details?

I noted in another thread that one option would be to use a mini router such as GLiNet300 as a gateway router. It has two wifi radios so one side connects to vehicle or phone wifi and the other is connected to your CD. The router allows setup of VPNs and all traffic can be routed thru said VPN
