Hi all,
I have the CD v.1 and it was working perfectly until two days ago.
My car (Volvo XC40) reports that the certificate is expired and does not allow the CD to display.
I have also debug it by using the desktop-head-unit emulator and it gives me a similar error:
ssl state=TLS client read_server_hello -1
ssl state=TLS client process_change_cipher_spec -1
ssl state=SSL negotiation finished successfully 1
SSL version=TLSv1.2 Cipher name=ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256
Verify returned: certificate has expired
I have checked that date/time are correct and even did a Factory reset but no luck.
After the factory reset CD also updated itself to OS version: 2.1.46 , SW version: 1.2.90
Anyone has any idea how to get this fixed ?
Thanks
Chris
How did you get the get the debug info? My v1 also stopped working 2 days ago. My car days the date/time on my vehicle doesn't match the unit. I can still use Mirroid but i want to confirm if it's the same certificate expiry since it's too much of a coincidence
To debug it i used the below:
'Android Auto' app included in the CD in debug mode. For this, I have used a launcher which i developed (but i think any other can be used) to run the Android Auto app. Then in the settings of the 'Android Auto', clicking a couple of times on the version will enable the developer's mode. From the 3 dot menu, select 'Start Head unit server'. Leave this running.
The 'desktop-head-unit' emulator included in the Android SDK. It can be located in the Sdk/extras/google/auto directory after installing it. Before running the 'desktop-head-unit' and adb command must be executed first.
I have created two screencasts to assists on this:
I am using Linux as my PC O/S and scrcpy (similar to Mirroid) for accessing CD over USB.
Interesting to see if other users face the same problem, I am really stuck now ...
I tried to sideload AndroidAuto 7.x and the issue with the certificate was resolved. I was also able to see some output in my car for a few seconds but then CD would turn off.
So it seems CD depends on some kind of modified AndroidAuto 5.9x which i guess has its certificate expired now, making the CD unusable.
I hope someone from the CD support team helps me on this.
Same error as you. It will be interesting to see what happens with all those users still waiting on a v1 dongle. It will effectively be DOA. Surely CD will have to release a patch/fix for this.

@Tommy,
can you please look at the problem we are facing as it made our CD unusable.
You may expect more v.1 users to face the same soon enough.
Thank you
Chris
Does anyone from CD check this forum??? A bunch of us are with a dead CD please help us!!!!!!!
Mine is unusable now either because of this issue. It would be nice if CD would provide support, but I'm very doubtful at this point.
Thanks
Looks like a new firmware upgrade is out.
OS version: 2.1.98
SW version 1.3.31
Installing now and will report back if it works on the car again.
The new firmware update fixed the issue. Also used the method posted above to check the certificate... it no longer reports it as expired.
link for the new firmware ?
Thanks for this, was the upgrade OTA?
yes. OTA update. check using mirroid
Can you please extractor Android auto application from the new update using apk extractor? I want to try it on CD 1.5v. Appreciate your help
I haven't had time to update the CD yet (I was just checking it) because I'm at work. I'll be working with it tomorrow afternoon.
