Hi there,
this sounds like a great project I have been waiting for. In our 2018 Volkswagen we have the typical modern VW multimedia dashboard player. Once can connect its mobile phone to use google maps and other apps through Android Auto. Unfortunately we are not using that as I have banned all Google stuff from my phone.

Do you think CarDongle will be compatible? It would be a great solution then!

If I’m not mistaken, the phone needs to connect over BT and through a USB cable to operate the Android Auto connection. Could that work with the CarDongle?

you only need your phone for a hotspot. CarDongle is plug-n-play. No need to have google on your phone. You can use any phone as a hotspot. Hope this helps!
