I noted in another thread that one option would be to use a mini router such as GLiNet300 as a gateway router. It has two wifi radios so one side connects to vehicle or phone wifi and the other is connected to your CD. The router allows setup of VPNs and all traffic can be routed thru said VPN

Just a thought…some of us love printed manuals, even if we need to print it ourselves.

How often have you cursed a YouTube video when you have to pause and rewind? And how about viewing a video in the sun? Instructional videos have a place but there will never be a replacement for a well written manual

I agree 2.4 GHz support is mandatory since that is default for many built-in car wifi systems.

I guess I can use a GLinet300 as a bridge between CD and the cars wifi. That would allow a VPN to be setup on the router.

The built in button microphone is useless for me since my Lincoln Aviator does not have an exposed USB connector, that connector is in the console compartment.

I heartily support an option to leave all phone operations controlled by the car controls. I would actually prefer that CD uses my car wifi instead of the cellular service.
